Dear Mrs. Clinton,

I dare to apply to you in the wake of our communication on a face book and kindly request to act in order to receive a favorable resolution of a tragic situation in which the 80 year old citizen of Israel Sara Hasdan occurred. I also apply to you because the situation is really tragic and extraordinary, and all my previous attempts to solve this problem had failed. However, it is easy to solve it, involving good will, sympathy to another man’s woe and, what is very important, in legal framework of existing Israeli laws. I am sure that international authority you hold as a human rights advocate, as a political leader, and as a personality, will persuade Israeli government and especially its Minister of Social Maintenance Mr. Moshe Kachlon to accept legal, human, and benevolent decision which will satisfy an elderly woman who had experienced lots of hardships and is at death’s door now. This woman has a desperate wish to see her grandson, with whom she had been separated against her will because of extraordinary circumstances. I am a representative of Israeli Council of Public Organizations of the former USSR citizens. My request is as follows: several months ago Mrs. Sara Hasdan applied to the Council with request to see her younger grandson who had been brutally and illegally taken away from his mother, Sara’s daughter, and was sent to another family 16,5 years ago. Sara, not having opportunity to see her grandson and not knowing where he is, also indicated in her request that she was suffering from an incurable disease – a cancer, and before she passes away, she would like to see her grandson. The boy’s foster-parents decidedly forbid doing that. Social services prohibiting Mrs. Hasdan meeting with her grandson are well aware of all tragic facts of her life, that she was a Nazi Ghetto prisoner during World War 2. Mrs Hasdan’s daughter, the boy’s mother, was seriously ill, that’s why the grandmother brought up the elder kid till the age of 4,5, but social services took the boy away from her and sent him to another family. As a result Mrs. Hasdan’s daughter made an attempt to commit a suicide and later died with grief. After that for 16,5 years Mrs. Hasdan had been deprived of possibility to see her younger grandson, who was taken away straight from the maternity hospital.

I, as a representative of the Council of Public Organizations, had personally applied to the Minister Kachalon to comply with Mrs Hasdan’s request. But I did not receive positive response either. However, the lawyers claim that the Minister has the legal right to cancel all previous not quite legal decisions and at least allow the grandmother meeting her grandson. It is clear enough that in solving such problem the boy’s interests are of primary importance. No one is going to cause him moral injure, revealing him the fact that he is an adopted child and has a grandmother. However, the TV group cleared out that the boy knows that he is an adopted son and that the family he lives in had adopted him, besides the boy can be prepared psychologically to such meeting.

Dear Mrs. Clinton, I hope so much that you, being a human rights advocate of international level, will be able to to influence the Ministry of Social Maintenance in making wit, just, human, and right solution of a problem without breaking any laws and legal norms. This solution must stipulate introducing amendments into court decisions and promote law, humanity, and common sense festivity.

P.S. I had already intended to send you this letter when I knew that Sara Hasdan started hunger-strike in front of Knesset building. She has firm intention to stay there until she is allowed to see her grandson. It is the fourth day of her hunger-strike now. She had made such attempts earlier, but the police interfered, arrested her and sent to police station and then home. I am very much worried about Mrs. Hasdan’s health. Her strength is exhausted. I must ask you to react immediately and try to influence this situation.
